Sometimes I make things never. Sometimes I make things lots.  

A family baby shower in early May was the ignition to my current makerly feast.

I made circle garlands,

 

Poof balls,

a butterfly mobile,

Mom-to-Be, and Dad-to-Be corsages,

I like the how it came together.

And then I made the new baby an afghan (mom and dad love the color purple) ;)


And there is a little tutu in the making for little Skye too. (Mom and Dad and LSU Tiger fans.) ;)

I've also worked a bit on this zippy strippy quilt for my great-nephew, Jaxon. His momma helped me pick the fabric when she was carrying him. Now he's three. Feast or famine with me and sewing y'all!

But, I'll have it finished in a few days. (i hope, i hope, i hope)

 

Speaking of Jaxon...how adorable is he!? (I don't know why it's sideways...just tilt your head to the right!)

My dear friend Robbie had a birthday yesterday, so I picked her out some smancy French soap and made her a soap sock. These are cool. I'll be crocheting some more. Y'all should check my shop in the next couple of weeks and grab one!

 Yesterday I had a craving for Nutella that would not be denied! So I made these. Get a can of Pillsbury croissants, or whatever brand. It doesn't matter to me. Separate the triangles, plop a spoonful on the fat side of the triangle, roll up into the croissant shape, and bake them according to the instructions on the can. Husbands, children and co-workers will sing your praises.

Baby Shower!

Yesterday was my niece Colleen's baby shower! I love celebrating with my family, and I love this girl! I remember holding her on my lap on a swing that hung from one of our big oak trees growing up. And now she is married and having her own baby, but I digress!

Is this diaper cake not the MOST adorable thing? Colleen's friend, Shanda, made it for her. The nursery will be in dinos. And I, of course, forgot to take a photo of the bedding. But, if you click here you can see it!
The theme of the shower was elephants and the colors were white, gray, blue and orange. I love the poms, or poof balls as I prefer to call them, hanging from the ceiling. These are super easy to make. Here's the tutorial I used. I just cut the tissue to different widths to get the various sizes. They come together quickly!
This cake makes me smile! That little squatty elephant on top of the cake makes me want one for a pet. If only they came in this size! HA! An elephant themed baby shower definitely needs roasted peanut and popcorn goody bags!
See that cute rag garland hanging on the entertainment center? I got the idea on Joy's Hope. I love how it turned out! The only things I did differently is that I tied the fabric to twine, and I ripped my strips rather than cutting them - FASTER!! Colleen plans to use the garland in the nursery since the colors go so nicely. That makes me happy!
The shower was fun and I love having my home filled with love! Just about 6 more weeks and we get to meet Mr. Jaxon. Can't wait!

Baby Shower...Check!

We've had the baby shower! Now I'm {im}patiently awaiting the arrival of Mr. Aiden ~ my newest Grand Nephew. CAN. NOT. STAND. IT!! And this one will live in my town. YO!


The shower was a success! Good eats, good company, lots of gifties for Momma and babe.
