Sometimes I make things never. Sometimes I make things lots.  

A family baby shower in early May was the ignition to my current makerly feast.

I made circle garlands,

 

Poof balls,

a butterfly mobile,

Mom-to-Be, and Dad-to-Be corsages,

I like the how it came together.

And then I made the new baby an afghan (mom and dad love the color purple) ;)


And there is a little tutu in the making for little Skye too. (Mom and Dad and LSU Tiger fans.) ;)

I've also worked a bit on this zippy strippy quilt for my great-nephew, Jaxon. His momma helped me pick the fabric when she was carrying him. Now he's three. Feast or famine with me and sewing y'all!

But, I'll have it finished in a few days. (i hope, i hope, i hope)

 

Speaking of Jaxon...how adorable is he!? (I don't know why it's sideways...just tilt your head to the right!)

My dear friend Robbie had a birthday yesterday, so I picked her out some smancy French soap and made her a soap sock. These are cool. I'll be crocheting some more. Y'all should check my shop in the next couple of weeks and grab one!

 Yesterday I had a craving for Nutella that would not be denied! So I made these. Get a can of Pillsbury croissants, or whatever brand. It doesn't matter to me. Separate the triangles, plop a spoonful on the fat side of the triangle, roll up into the croissant shape, and bake them according to the instructions on the can. Husbands, children and co-workers will sing your praises.

Not KNITTING, but crochet!

Almost 2 years later...

{I meant to post these pics loooooooonnnnnng ago] :)

On June 19 it will be 2 years since Colleen's wedding. I was blessed to be a part of the planning for my niece's wedding. But even as my tongue agreed to do the flowers, my mind was saying, "Are you crazy? You don't know anything about arranging flowers!" Still, I dove in, doing my best to combine her desires with the trends of the time. I ordered several different stems of calla lily before I decided on these. They were soft, realistic and reasonably priced. The arrangements I came up with didn't have a lot of the frills of professional arrangements, but I think they captured the simple feel she was going for at her beach wedding.

Preparing for and attending the wedding was such a fun time with lots of memories! It's fun to look back and remember!

Gift Wrap Idea

Today my sweet niece, Megan, turned 10! Double digits! I'm not happy about how quickly she is growing up. Not.At.All! 

 

We celebrated at the little pizza joint in town - Pirate's Island. Note to self: Don't order nachos for dinner at a small town pizza joint. Even if the owner insists he has EVERYTHING he needs to make them. I was expecting a super nacho variety, and some real cheese.  What I got was tortilla chips, canned cheese and jalapenos. Luckily I was headed to a football game so the fare kind of fit! :)

I've slept about 7 hours in the past 48. I got home from work today, finished up band goody bags for the football game tonight, ran Ste to the band hall, sat in my recliner and promptly fell asleep. I work up and realized I was late for Meg's party and I still needed to wrap her gift.

And then I remembered I had no wrapping paper!

I scrounged around my craft room and found a roll of brown shipping paper. I grabbed the scissors and tape, some twine, paper doilies, construction paper and glitter. And this is what I came up with: 

I think it turned out pretty cute! Meg can even hang the M in her bedroom.

I would, however, suggest giving yourself enough time to let the glue dry. My M was still a little mooshy at gift opening time! ☺

Soda Pop Bottle Grad Gift

 I have a young cousin graduating from High School this year. I am not able to make it to the ceremony but wanted to send a gift along.  And when I saw this on Pinterest, I knew I must copy it!

My version is stuffed with twenty $1 dollar bills and 12 cents (you know...2012!) and a bunch of different candies and gums.

Productive Weekend

This past weekend we had the kind of weather that makes me think I could pitch a tent by a river next to a field of antelope, throw up a clothes line and live forever. Then bedtime rolls around and I know it will never be. I love my bed too much.

BUT, the weather was scrumptious. A day that would have been perfect for rolling down a grassy hill. Energizing. And so, with an absence of hills, we tackled some projects.

I started out the day helping my SIL paint the living room of the new rental she and her kiddos are moving into, while Virgil and Stephen painted the inside of our shed to seal all the wood before we start moving stuff in.

I also painted this old plant stand for a little house warming for my SIL. I nabbed the stand for a buck at a flea market last spring. It turned out so cute in Rustoleum's Apple Green. I have a full picture of the finished stand but blogger is being a total butt and I'm tired of messing with trying to add photos for now! {ex of blogger buttdom..I have no idea why this entire sentence is underlined??? big time eye roll}

We also worked on some Subway Wall Art I've been wanting to get together. I painted the wood and Virgil helped me build the frame. Or maybe I helped him...but who's keeping track, right? :)

Now I just need to find the perfect spot to hang it in our living room...{notice the underlining is gone? I have no clue why...!} You can learn how to do this subway art here.

~band treats~

If you've never mixed candy corn with roasted, salted peanuts you are missing out on an essential October treat, babeee! I LOVE the stuff. So, when I realized it was my turn to provide some treats for the band, this mix flashed immediately onto the smartboard of my brain!

Then, of course, I had to come up with packaging! I bought a this pdf
from etsy and LizAnn customized it for me. Bonus good luck: It was already had one of our school colors [maroon]. *score 1* Which worked out really great because I was just going to print them in black and white (color prints are expensive peeps!) But FedEx messed up and printed them in color for me for the same price I would have paid for black and white! *score 2*

~lamp re-vamp~

I've had this lamp for a million years. Well, maybe just a thousand. But it definitely needed a change, and I definitely need to add color to my living space!

I painted it with eleventy hundred coats of Krylon Bauhaus Gold paint. And I must say, I LOVE it! Then I bought a small drum shade from Target and trimmed it with burlap I had left over from my niece's wedding decor. I like it. Alotta, lotta, lotta!
Oh, and here's something I made this weekend. I've seen this quote all over etsy and blogland and had to have it on my wall. I made the printable up on picnik, sent it to Wal-mart for printing and stuck it in an inexpensive frame. Lovely. Now I need to actually get it on the wall. ;)♥

On Sunday, in an effort to forget that it was eleventy million degrees outside, V, Ste and I made paper pumpkins - Halloween version.

Here's where I got the idea.

I also whipped up this throw pillow cover out of a piece of vintage sheet I had in my fabric stash. I made it envelope style for easy cleaning.

Today is my SIL's bday!

Happy Birthday Lizard!

I rounded up a Ball jar, grabbed my Krylon Gum Drop paint, some ribbon and some tulle.

And..

Voila!

I'm tucking a gift card into the tulle and I think this makes a mighty fine gift!

~christmas tray to entryway welcome~

This tin Christmas tray has resided in my craft room since right after Christmas. I bought it on clearance at JoAnn's. ♥ that place!


I knew it would eventually become a chalkboard for my entryway.

And this weekend it finally did!

~my last minute St. Patrick's day *gifts*~

My friend, Jenny, inspired me when she signed a recent card, "Hugs & No pinches!"

I found this video on youtube for crocheting little four leaf clovers. I hot glued a pin on the back, and printed up these cards that say, "Wishing you luck & no pinches." Next, I punched two little holes in the card to run the pin through.

Can't wait to give them out tomorrow! ;D

~Christmas creation~

I put this together over the weekend and I love how it turned out! {forgive my poor, shadowy photo - it doesn't do it justice!}

I ordered the vinyl from this {SantasGiftShoppe} etsy shop. What a sweet lady!

I bought a 12X12 canvas when they were on sale at Hobby Lobby, spray painted it with Krylon Ivy Leaf, and then a layer of Krylon Silver Glitter paint. Next, I applied the vinyl.

I love how it turned out! [oops, already said that!] Looks great on my black entertainment center. I'll post some pics when I dust it! HA!

We will be trimming our tree tonight. We decided to use a few vintage shiny brites in green and silver and then add some glittery ornaments in that color theme. I made a few poster board cutouts and glittered them up to add to the tree.

{If you decided to do something similiar, and if you decided to use spray adhesive - be sure to lay down something large enough to capture overspray. Ahem...otherwise your table might end up coated with spray adhesive. Spray adhesive that is NOT water soluble. I'm just sayin'.}

Just need to punch a hole and string these babies up!

It is a lovely fall morning here. Mild temperature, windy. Leaves are blowing from the trees.

I love this time of year.
I only bought one mum this year. I think I'll actually plant this one and maybe it will come back next fall.

Our sweet gum tree has some lovely and varied color this year.

And on another note. I decided to do a little spray painting this morning.

Spray paint and a dollar store frame.

And a lovely print from this etsy shop.

Now I just need to sweet talk my tall hubby into hanging it for me.
