Remember When Wednesday...take 10

In 2004, Stephen was in first grade. It REALLY does seem like yesterday. From age of 4 to about 8 or 9, Stephen was set on being a police officer when he grew up.  So naturally, when his class was studying community workers and got to dress up as their favorite, he chose to be a policeman.

Oh my goodness...do you see his little handcuffs hanging out of his pocket. HA!
(and yes, his feet really were THAT big! Pre-cursor to the 14 or 15 size he wears now!)

I'm pretty certain he was the cutest policeman there that day!

 You agree, don't you? ;)

Remember When Wednesday...take 9

In honor of the beginning of football two-a-days, I thought I'd look back at the beginning for Ste. He started playing flag football in 1st grade. He's always been a Pirate!  Virgil and I used to crack up watching these little boys on the football field and now they've grown into young men. Looking forward to watching them the next four years in High School ball!

A Rare First

As Stephen grows older, our firsts with him are becoming fewer and further in between. Our son starts high school in a few short weeks. That makes me excited, nervous, sad and happy all at the same time.  Seriously, I'm a mess! :)
This week we had a new "first." Stephen's first day of High School Football practice.
It won't be long until we will be enjoying football games and band performances on cool autumn evenings.
Well, it will be cool..... Eventually!

Remember When Wednesday...take 8

Dad and Mom have been gone for  4 1/2 and almost 3 years respectively. I miss them and the everyday knowing they are just a phone call or 15 minutes away.
I love looking at the photos of when they were just starting out. They were married just shy of 51 years when Daddy passed away. And the heritage of their love lives on in me and my siblings and our families.
I'm blessed to have had them with me on earth for so long and I will be blessed to rejoice with them in heaven.

Remember When Wednesday...take 7

In October 2004, Stephen and Virgil took me on a birthday trip to the East Texas town of Jefferson. We did lots of lovely things on that trip. All geared to my liking. A boat tour of Caddo Lake, looking at old houses, thrift and antique store shopping. They often spoil me!:)

One of our stops was an old "gift" type store with an old fashioned soda fountain.  They also had ice cream by the scoop. What almost 7 year old boy could resist rainbow ice cream?

I sneaked some photos of him enjoying his cone...

 He was pretty intent...

Oops! He caught me!

 His mischievous smile!

{ah, some of these looks back squeeze a momma's heart}

A healthy little snack

Don't you just love a good snack? I do. And if it's healthyish to boot, all the better!

This particular snack takes advantage of some local honey we are priveledged to have access to. This stuff is good. Seriously good. If I weren't lazy minded at the moment I'd think of a better adjective for it, but "Yum!" pretty much sums it up!

Here ya go:
2 sheets Low Fat Honey Grahams
1 TBS Almond Butter
1 teas honey
1/3 banana

Spread almond butter over the grahams, drizzle with the honey, add sliced banana on top and you get an energizing, 280 (1/2 the snack is really plenty if you are looking for lower calories!)  calorie snack that sticks with  you for a bit. And, satisfies your sweet tooth!

I enjoy a cup of coffee with mine!
