I missed last week and the letter L - :( so sad about that!
But, now it is time for M. I was going to write something about my Mom. But, I don't want to feel nostalgic or sad. SO, I decided to write about MEATBALLS. And, no, I don't have a recipe to share. I never make MEATBALLS the same way twice anyway. I want to talk about some specific MEATBALLS. The MEATBALLS that are served at the University Christmas party every single year. Basically, the MEATBALLS are the only thing anyone ever remembers or comments on about the party. Everyone ♥'s the MEATBALLS! Before I attended for the first time, I was so stoked about these MEATBALLS! I waited in line forever. The MEATBALLS finally came into view...just tiny little MEATBALLS in a bbq sauce. I watched the dish of MEATBALLS diminish as I waited my turn. Someone in a uniform came and filled the dish back up just before my turn arrived. I piled my styrofoam saucer with MEATBALLS. I found a chair and I forked my first one. I put the whole MEATBALL in my mouth.
IT. WAS.......a huge disappointment!
Seriously, you know those frozen meatballs you buy in the huge package at Sam's Club? Yep...ONE and the SAME!
But, guess what? I still join in the MEATBALL talk every year. I still go to the party. I always put a few MEATBALLS on my plate. I always eat the MEATBALLS.
And then rub it in if someone arrives too late to get some!!

How funny that they rave about frozen meatballs!
I LOVE meatballs at restaurants but I don't make them either. I make Schwans meatball in the crockpot and throw in BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce hides that they are really not that good LOL.
Bwwahhh!!! I cracked up when I read that you rub it in when someone misses out on the "famous" meatballs!!! :-)
I love the M post...even though I don't particularly like meatballs...frozen or otherwise....stop by my m post if you get a chance!
I make them..I like them! I will never buy them again..They taste awful, like the ones they serve in the school cafeteria..gross!
Great M post!
Very funny and it's like a joke everyone is in on but the newbies!
I bet the sauce is BBQ and grape jelly. Every meatball I have eaten at a catered event has that sauce!
I love good meatballs, and I'm like you I never make them the same way twice. But it cracks me up that you rub it in for those who arrive to late for the "famous" meatballs. Must be how they got their reputation to begin with :) Kathy
Oh, I don't like those frozen meatballs, either! One year I was attending a party and needed to bring something and didn't want to go to the store. So I went online and found a recipe for meatballs, and cobbled together a sauce made with pepper jelly and I don't know what else. Well, they were a huge hit. Everyone wanted the recipe and have requested that I bring them to other parties. But I don't remember how I made them!
LOL i was all geared up to hear about delicious meatballs ... i am not an "out of the box" devotee so i can appreciate how disappointed you were.
I don't eat meat that much, and yes those frozen meatballs can kill it for me..
I love meatballs. When I was in elementary school we used to get together with our neighbors once a week for dinner. It was the night the two Dads had to work late so the 2 Moms and 6 kids got together for "Meatball Tuesday". They were three doors down from us and we took turns hosting. There were always meatballs, but the other items on the dinner menu changed each week. Anyway I grew up loving meatballs. It was such a fun night!
This is a fun post - love the camaraderie of the "special" meatballs. :) I understand what you mean, but not wanting to feel nostalgic or sad.
Oh Amy, I love this post...and I can see you telling it so clearly in my mind.
Meatballs were always my favorite thing at family reunions.
One relative always made BBQ'd ham meatballs...oh I loved those.
Thanks for this tantalizing stop on my little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "M"!
A+
Very funny! I dislike those frozen meatballs, and that's an understatement!
That's funny how the meatballs got such a good reputation.
