So.Not.Organized.

If there is one thing about myself that I despise, it is my lack of organizational and time management skills. Seriously, I'd give my teeth to have a natural knack for organization. From my spice rack to my closet to my craft room ~ everything is in disarray and some of it is just downright cluttered. Part of the problem is that I want an immediate fix! Wish I could channel some genie powers. I'd be twitching my nose all over the place! But, alas, I'm just the regular garden variety gal without nose twitching abilities - SO.... I've come up with another plan.

Research!

I'm scouring the internet, the library and picking the brains of my friends for organizational tips. I'm hoping if I get the organization down that time management will just fall into place.

So, if you happen to read this blog entry, please leave a comment with an organizational tip for me. Nothing is too menial...trust me....

Just know that you don't have to buy a bunch of containers to be organized...put liked items together even if you use a cereal box to hold them in! Which make excellent magazine holders, once cut and wrapped in pretty paper!

Ok, first, Carol, I love that idea! Second, Amy, this is not a tip, but a THANK YOU, for passing that trait of disorganization to your niece! LOL.
Seriously though, I am the worlds worst and I have really been working on it this year, if I pick up any good tips or habits, I will pass it on.

I put all my spices on a lazy-suzan in the cupboard closest to the stove, so I can get to everything easily while I am cooking. The best tip I have for organizing is to clear it all out first, decide what you are going to give away or throw out and then organize what is left. Install a closet system for making best use of your closet spaces. You don't necessarily have to buy new storage containers... use what you have around the house: picnic baskets, cookie tins, old purses, flower pots, empty jam jars, etc... Labeling or using open containers will help you remember where everything is. Good luck and post some pictures for us when you are done.
